Darcy’s Law states that the rate of flow through a porous medium is proportional to the loss of head, and inversely proportional to the length of the flow path and is defined by the following equation:
Q = T i w
Q = Discharge
T = Transmissivity
i = Groundwater gradient
w = Length of groundwater unit perpendicular to flow
A derived equation for the flow of fluids on the assumption that the flow is laminar and that inertia can be neglected.
Why is Darcy's Law important?
Darcy's Law is used to calculated the rate at which groundwater is moving in porous media.
