| The X1
drainage region is the largest of the X - Region's sub drainage
regions. This area is drained by the Komati River and some of its smaller
tributaries. The Komati River originates west of Carolina on the
Highveld Plateau and flows through mountainous terrain into Northern
Swaziland. It flows back into the grassvelds of the Lowveld before finally
reaching Mozambique.
Characteristic of this region is its low industrial development and relatively low population density. A substantiated volume of water is transferred from reservoirs and Rivers to the catchment area of the Olifants River where Eskom is the main user of these resources. (Power stations) |
