Study Steering Committee
The primary function of the Study Steering Committee (SSC) was to provide
guidance for the development of the Reconciliation Strategy for the Olifants
River Water Supply System and to make sure that the various sectors in the study
area are participating in its development.
The SSC was formed in May 2010. This Committee has representatives from all
provincial government departments involved in water resources management,
conservation organisations, agriculture, District and Local Municipalities in
the study area, Water Boards and Water User Associations as well as the DWA
National and Limpopo and Mpumalanga Regional Offices.

Strategy Steering Committee
The purpose and role of the Strategy Steering Committee will be to oversee the
implementation of the water reconciliation strategy and to ensure that the
strategy is kept up-to-date and relevant, always keeping the long-term time
horizon.
The Strategy Steering Committee has not been established as yet, but its
establishment will follow soon as the Study Steering Committee completed its
work by overseeing the development of the reconciliation strategy. The Strategy
Steering Committee will basically comprise the same group of people – it is the
role that will change.
Terms of Reference for the Strategy Steering Committee
Information will follow once the Strategy Steering Committee has been
established.
Membership
The following institutions will be represented on the Strategy Steering
Committee:
National Departments: Agriculture, Environmental Affairs, Energy and Mineral Affairs and Water Affairs (National and Regional Offices);
Provincial Government: Limpopo and Mpumalanga – Offices of the Premier, Agriculture, Environmental Affairs, Cooperative Government and Traditional Affairs, Economic Development, Tourism, Human Settlements, Mineral Resources;
Local Government: SALGA, District Municipalities – Nkangala, Greater Sekhukune, Gert Sibande, Waterberg, Ehlanzeni, Mopani, Capricorn, Metros and bigger Local Municipalities: City of Tshwane, Ephraim Mogale, Elias Motswaledi, Emalahleni and Steve Tshwete.
Organised business, agriculture, industry and mining in the area.
Non-governmental organisations and CBOs: SANParks, Joint Water Forum, Olifants Water Forum and House of Traditional Leaders.
Representatives of the Irrigation Boards and Water User Associations, Water Boards: Lepelle Northern Water, Magalies Water, Rand Water, Lebalelo WUA.
