Good Morning Ladies and Gentlemen and thank you very much for accepting our invitation to come and
share ideas about the water situation in South Africa. We are meeting at a difficult time following the sad
news of the passing of Vuyo Mbuli, South Africa’s legend and icon of broadcasting. Again, on behalf of the
entire government and people of South Africa, we would like to extend our most sincere condolences to the
family and to the fraternity of journalism in South Africa and abroad.

Water Session Speech at WEF Africa Summit

It gives me great pleasure to be with you here today, to discuss the
Strategic Water Partners Network – South Africa, an initiative I
announced exactly 2 years ago with the 2030 Water Resources Group.
From the beginning, the vision for this group was to engage all stakeholders,
enhance collaboration, and create partnerships in an effort to support South Africa
secure its water future and close its projected 17% water gap in 2030.

DM`s Speech at Birchwood Modderfontein Adopt a River

Today we are here in Ekurhuleni to launch the Birchwood Hotel Modderfontein Adopt a River
initiative that seeks to create a partnership between the Department of Water Affairs, the Gauteng
Department of Education, Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality, East Rand Water Care Company and
Rand Water through the advancement of the Department of Water Affairs’ 2020 Vision for Water Educational Programme.
