| Regulatory Comments 2011 : |
NoneThe Inspector who assessed Blue Crane Local Municipality found, as a pleasant experience due to the mere nature and spirit of commitment of the officials responsible for drinking water quality management. The vast improvement itself is a remarkable accomplishment which hugely appreciated. An interesting observation is the Technical Manager’s Blue Drop target score for the 2012 set at 65%; they certainly came close. This pragmatic approach serves as confirmation of the desired sustainable improvement within drinking water quality operations and management and could serve as an example to many other similarly sized municipalities across the country. There however remains room for further improvement on various elements of drinking water quality management, especially within the water supply system of Pearston. The amendment of the water safety planning process and commencement of chemical monitoring (including the full SANS 241 risk assessment) are but two of the key elements that instil confidence that the municipality is well on its way to overhauling this programme in its entirety to comply with regulatory expectations. Blue Drop Certification for one or two of the systems under the jurisdiction of this municipality is not a far-fetched possibility in the nearby future.
